Today Karriem Riggins dropped the first single from his upcoming album Alone Together (out on Stonesthrow 10/23/12), entitled “Moogy Foog It.” Surprisingly considering his career, this will be Karriem’s debut solo album. Despite being known both as one of the hippest musicians to hit the drums and one of the baddest producers on the scene, Riggins embarked on his debut solo record a little later in his career. The album is a “34-track instrumental odyssey through nearly every influence on his career thus far. The project was inspired by much of the music he was creating while living in Los Angeles, and also by the love of his son and family.”
As Riggins explains, “I need the balance. Without that, I couldn’t be who I am.” Balance is something he knows a lot of after splitting his time on projects with Diana Krall and Paul McCartney as well as work with the likes of Common and The Roots to name a recent few.
